Stargate SG-1 is a popular science fiction show that features the quests of one of about 20 Stargate teams, who use special stargates to travel vast distances across the universe. It focuses on the adventures of just one of the many teams as they begin a desperate struggle to discover new technology needed to protect Earth. The show features a variety of species that exist throughout the universe. The Tau'ri are humans who originate from Earth. They exist throughout the universe due to the interference of various alien species. Most of these displaced nations represent past Earth cultures that were displaced. The Ancients have a strong role in the show, because they were the advanced race that actually constructed the stargates. The Ori are Ascended characters who seek to control the universe by exerting control through various clerics and followers. The Goa'uld are the "evil" race of small snakes who are able to take over host bodies. Stargate was formed to research technology to resist the Goa'uld. The Jaffa are their genetically altered footsoldiers who are depend on the Goa'uld due to their dependence on a Goa'uld larval. The Asgard represent the standard aliens who have formed an alliance with the Tau'ri. Stargate SG-1 follows in the steps of great science fictions shows to continue to provide epic struggles against good and evil, while providing interesting moral issues, and of course providing plenty of space exploration and adventure.
